THE WATERSHED RESEARCH AND TRAINING CENTER
Creating a vibrant future for rural lands and communities
The Watershed Research and Training Center is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Trinity County, California.
We conduct the full gamut of land and watershed management services, lead state biomass and fire resilience partnerships, and through partnerships with communities, organizations, and public agencies we steward our landscape, create and sustain quality jobs, and connect people to the land and each other.
We create jobs, innovate land stewardship practices, support youth development, and share our work with other communities. Our Forestry and Fuels, Prescribed Fire, Watershed Stewardship, and Youth Development Programs are focused on outcomes, creating vibrant communities, healthy landscapes, and sustainable economies in Trinity County.

Our Programs
We are leaders in California fire and forest management and biomass utilization. Working with natural resource managers, government agency leadership, and community leaders, we run a state wood energy team and spearhead capacity building efforts for forest and fire management across California.
The Watershed Research and Training Center stewards a national network of communities learning to better adapt to frequent fire. We also partner with the US Forest Service on a community navigator effort to connect communities with resources, partnerships, and capacity-building. Our local and statewide work helps to inform our influence at a national scale.
